ACE is a collection of HIM professionals at the top of their game, who volunteer into the program to serve as mentors, author articles, conduct industry interviews, and generally support the HIM profession. A member of AHIMA’s Action Community for e-HIM Excellence (ACE), Stephanie Peterson has always felt her main contribution to ACE would come through mentoring students. Her chance came after the College of St. Scholastica began offering an internship for RHIA-aspiring seniors called "Explorations." The curriculum-required internship allows HIM students to spend one week with an HIM professional working in a non-traditional HIM role.
