Understanding the HIE Landscape. Appendix A: State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Program

On May 13, 2010, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology awarded approximately $550 million in grants to State Health Information Exchange Cooperative Agreement Programs and State Designated Entities as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Below is the full list of programs and entities that received grants and the amounts awarded to each.

These programs will promote health information exchange based on the collection of standards, requirements, and protocols of the Nationwide Health Information Network. The NHIN will provide a nationwide secure infrastructure to connect organizations, providers, and consumers to interoperable health information across cities and states.
